3D Section Curves

Section curves splines generated by planes that pass through the object. They can be imported into any CAD package and don’t consume much resource, making them easy to work with. There is no limit on number, position angle or range of section curves.  Feature curves are created by analysing the mesh data and calculating an edge position. These edges can then be selected and a spline placed along them.  The level of information conveyed by section and feature curves is fairly low and often not enough to reverse engineer a component without additional information. However, they do provide a very quick and cheap grade of information that, for some projects, may provide a very useful guide, particularly where point cloud data is too big to work with.
