Inspection

Inspection of CAD models back to scan data can be a useful way of determining the accuracy of a part. Collecting many thousands of times more data than can be collected with a CMM, surface form is far more clearly represented. Although the absolute accuracy of scanned data is less than is achievable with CMM, because the sampling rate is significantly higher, it can provide an good alternative for inspecting many parts. It can also be an excellent way to demonstrate how reverse engineered parts deviateĀ  from the original with regard to capturing the design intent and eliminating defects. Every detail of the inspection is completely customisable, from user specified tolerances to deviation range colours. Individual sections can also be analysed to determine how the CAD deveiates from the orginal scan data.

Components that are too delicate, intricate or flexible to be inspected on a CMM, can often be scanned and inspected.
